In Illinois, a vehicle registration can be suspended for several reasons, including failure to maintain insurance, unpaid traffic tickets or toll violations, or other violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code.
If the suspension is due to a lack of insurance, you must provide proof of current liability insurance to the Secretary of State. If you had no insurance you must first purchase insurance then have your agent notify the State of Illinois, then in most cases pay a reinstatement fee of $100.00 plus a $2.25 processing fee if you use a credit or debit card to pay the fee.
